ARTISTIC & ADMINISTRATION DIRECTOR

An internationally acclaimed vocalist, Fiona Hui has found widespread success in Classical Concert, Opera and Music Theatre, and performing as a soloist in the United States, Canada, Austria, Czech Republic, Japan, Beijing, Macau, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Fiona earned her B.A. in Music from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and earned her M.A. from New York University in Music Performance. Fiona enjoys not only Classical Concert, Opera, and Music Theatre, but also singing and recording Christian and Pop music.

Fiona is also a passionate educator, and is currently a language faculty at New York University. In addition, she has given music workshops at St Joseph University; Macau, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Children’s Choir, NYU Longhorn Medical Center and Macalester College, Minnesota and etc.

Chihwei Julie Li
CHOIR CONDUCTOR / SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR

Chihwei Julie Li is a native Taiwanese conductor, pianist and composer. She received her B.A. in Music and Education at National Taiwan Normal University. After graduation, she received full scholarship for M.A. from Carnegie Mellon University and studied composition with Leonardo Balada, conducting with Eduardo Alonso-Crespo, and received Dalcroze certificate under Marta Sanchez and Annabelle Joseph. Over the years, she held a faculty appointment at Adelphi University’s summer Choral Festival, served as the music director of Community Church of Great Neck and was conductor and clinician of several choirs in NY state. She currently serves as a music staff at Faith Bible Inc. and is a faculty member of the Music Department at Suffolk County Community College.

Over the years, Ms. Li has written and conducted chamber music, orchestral and choral music and produced sound tracks for Dance Alloy company, Herald Christian Crusade, J-collaboration Japanese art film and Asian American Center at Stony Brook University. She collaborated and performed with various groups and artists at New York’s Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and Stony Brook’s Wang Center. Her choral music can be found in the US and Asia. Two of her compositions, “Chinese Way of Love” and “Be Thou My Vision”, made top 10 chart at Broadjam over 5 weeks in 2015-2016.

As a passionate church musician and choral director, Ms. Li uniquely integrates Dalcroze’s philosophy in training singers’ aural skills and musicality through body movement. She introduces simple biblical truths into practical weekly spiritual discipline. Many of her choral singers, young and old, not only have gained musical knowledge and skills, but also experienced empowered body, mind, emotional and spiritual health at new levels. Julie Li envisions all her choir members as mighty warriors for God’s kingdom, and she strives to make it happen.

Mary Vigil Carey
ASSOCIATE CONDUCTOR / VOCAL INSTRUCTOR

Mary Vigil Carey is an operatically trained soprano, an instructor of voice, and a musical theatre actress. A native of Chicago, Mary came to New York to pursue her career in the arts. Her performing credits include over 10 choral works as soloist and over 20 roles in opera and musical theatre. Among these roles are Nedda in Pagliacci, Musetta in La Bohème, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Maria in West Side Story, but most notably the U. S. Staged Premiere of Verdi’s Alzira in the title role. Mary was a 2015 finalist in the American Prize Chicago Musical Theater Competition.

creative director at Christ Tabernacle for 27 years. She also sang with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers for over 10 years, traveling nationally and internationally. Mary taught and directed the Middle/High School Music program at Evangel Christian School for 9 years. Currently, she teaches Voice and Acting for the Musical Stage, co-directs Opera Theatre Workshop, and is the Assistant Music Education Supervisor at the Nyack College Manhattan Campus. She holds a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education, comprehensive K-12 major with a Choral Emphasis.

Michael Cheng
ASSOCIATE CONDUCTOR / INSTRUCTOR

Hailing from Hong Kong, baritone Michael Cheng has been in much demand as both a soloist and a chorister in many local and overseas performances. Michael is pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Stony Brook University under the tutelage of Dr. Jeremy Little. He has performed the roles of Signor Deluso (Signor Deluso), Mr. Gedge (Albert Herring), Marquis de la Force (Dialogue des Carmélites), and Enrico (L’isola disabitata). As an avid concert singer, Michael appeared as a bass soloist in Coronation Mass in C major by Mozart, Messiah by Handel, Lord Nelson Mass by Haydn, Chansons françaises by Poulenc, and Magnificat by Vivaldi. Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts from Hong Kong Baptist University and a Master of Music in voice performance from Stony Brook University.

As a devoted church musician, Michael has sung as a section leader and soloist at different churches in the New York area, including Saint Peter’s Church, Christ Church Riverdale, Setauket Presbyterian Church, and Church of Holy Apostles NYC. Before moving to the States, Michael was the associate conductor of the Hong Kong Baptist University Christian Choir from 2014 to 2018. As a voice teacher, Michael has been a teaching assistant at Stony Brook University for 4 years and maintained a private teaching studio for a decade. He has extensive experience teaching students of different ages and levels and strives to help them discover their God-given talent and reach their highest potential.

Kevin Lee
FORMER ASSOCIATE CONDUCTOR / VOCAL INSTRUCTOR

Singaporean Tenor, Kevin Lee graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, with a Diploma in Music Performance (Vocal Studies), and holds the Intermediate Vocal Recital Certificate from Trinity College, London. As a chorister, Kevin has sung with the Singapore Symphony Chorus and NAFA Chamber Choir in various collaborations with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Singapore’s pre-eminent orchestral and choral conductor, Lim Yau.

As a soloist, Kevin has made debuts with the Singapore Lyric Opera (SLO) and OperaViva, two of Singapore’s most active opera companies. He made his debut with the Singapore Lyric Opera in celebration of Singapore’s Golden Jubilee at the Botanic Gardens, and was featured as Bastien in Operaviva’s production of Mozart’s “Bastien und Bastienne”. Kevin was awarded the 3rd Prize at the 8th Tan Ngiang Kaw/ Tan Ngiang Ann Memorial Vocal Competition in 2014, and won 1st Prize at the NAFA Vocal Competition in 2016. Kevin has also had lessons and master classes with renowned pedagogues such as, Patricia Bardon, Nicholas Sears, Michael Trimble, and Neil Rosenshein.

As a Conductor, Kevin has led Xinmin Chorale and East Spring Chorale to Gold and Silver medals respectively at the 1st Singapore International Choral Festival 2014, where Xinmin Chorale emerged as Champions of their category.
Kevin is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance (Voice), at The New School, Mannes School of Music, under the guidance of William Burden.

Shufen Huang
FORMER PIANIST

Shufen Huang obtained her bachelor degree from Musikhochschule in Vienna and her master degree from The Juilliard School. She also completed her professional study from The Mannes College of Music. She currently focuses on teaching students in music appreciation. Meanwhile, she is a virtuoso accompanist and church pianist.

Nathaniel Torres
FORMER PERCUSSION INSTRUCTOR

Nathaniel Torres is a native New Yorker who at an early age grew an affinity towards any and everything related to percussion. Since the ripe age of 5, he was exposed to many instruments around the house as well as in his church being that his father was both a pastor and a musician growing up. Nathaniel began his course of study in the Latin Percussion techniques and from there bloomed into a multi-faceted musician who has played all styles of music from a multitude of ethnic backgrounds. Since the age of 9, Nathaniel has played with countless churches, bands, and at numerous events. He brings over 18 years of experience playing drums and percussion. Sharon Li
FORMER CHOIR MANAGER

Sharon has been a soprano chorister with the Hong Kong Children’s Choir since a young age. She has an impressive track record, having performed in the 2006 Tianjin International Children’s Culture & Art Festival and been awarded the silver medal in the World Choir Games held in Graz, Austria. She also took part in the London tour of the Symphony Chorus. Under the direction of Ronnie Cheng, her school’s Mixed Choir won first place in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival’s preliminary round for 3 consecutive years and was awarded Best Choir of the year in two of those years at the finals. During her time in college, Sharon took voice lessons with Dr. Daniel Hughes and was also featured as one of the soloists in a duet performance within Dido and Aeneas. Currently, Sharon is a Soprano singer with the Symphony Chorus and tours churches in the five boroughs of New York and in the Tristate area every month.

Yuling Deng is an award-winning and accomplished designer and artist with 19 years of experience in the industry. She is particularly multi-talented, with expertise in areas such as web design and development on multiple platforms, graphic design, branding, app design, UI design, illustration, concept art, digital and traditional painting, motion graphics, photo retouching, packaging design, exhibit design, animation, media marketing, fashion design, and more. Aside from her impressive artistic and design skills, Yuling also shines as an educator, imparting her knowledge through teaching art, design, and software.

In addition to serving as an art director for various companies, Yuling has dedicated her skills to gospel ministries globally. One of the ministries that she currently lends her talents to is the BlessVision Foundation, a Christian charity and media organization dedicated to promoting charitable work, life education, and humanitarian care.

Yuling’s prowess extends beyond the design realm. She has a passion for music and has been serving in her church music team as a singspiration leader since 2004. She has been invited to solo perform at different events and is also capable of playing the bass guitar for the team. In addition, Yuling has the ability to compose songs and write lyrics in different languages including English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
